WIAW: Vegan Edition

by Tiff

I had a vegan day yesterday, but it wasn’t really planned.  I’ve been eating a lot more vegetarian meals lately, which was apparent in my low grocery bill.  I splurged on a little organic product, organic eggs, and organic yogurt, but still kept it cheap.  Sweeeeet.

Now it’s time for the food!  Breakfast began with 1 Kashi Crunchy Pumpkin Bar before my workout.  I then had a small pear in my oats with walnut pieces and ground flax.  Yummy!

For lunch, I’ve had a terrible whole grain wrap filled with mediocre peanut satay sauce, broccoli slaw, snow peas, and chickpeas.  Seriously – these wraps are awful; they crack if you breathe on them the wrong way!  Luckily, I also had a delicious orange.  (I wanted to increase my Vitamin C a bit to avoid sickness.  I’ve read that it does and it doesn’t help, but I figured it couldn’t hurt!)

Peeling it in one peel makes me happy.

I forgot to snap a picture of my snack, but you guys have seen 1/4 a bagel, an apple, and 14 almonds before, right?  Thought so.

I had a beer as an appetizer.  Kevin purchased these 2 beers over the weekend for a taste test.  He preferred the Vienna Lager, which was nothing like the Ottakringer beers I had in Vienna earlier this year (though it might be similar to other Vienna lagers).  I preferred the Bohemian Lager, though neither of us plan to purchase them again.

Dinner was my version of Heather’s Sloppy Tempeh Joes.  They were good, but they were nothing like Manwich.  Maybe I should have followed her recipe more closely, but then again, maybe next time I’ll just go for the good stuff.  Bring on the can-O-sodium!

Are you a sloppy joe fan?  Do you have a favorite brand/type of wrap that doesn’t split in 5 places?

*** I just realized that I didn’t check the ingredients on the beer and bagel.  Those may or may not be vegan.  I think they are, but as an eat-anything-etarian I’m no expert on this topic.***
