Resting Up

by Tiff

This weekend involved a lot of resting.  I had to rest my body from the previous week (or three).  You can ready more about why I’m healing more than workout out this week from Saturday’s post.

bike
Anyone love Precor bikes as much as I do?

I still made it to the gym for a bit of biking and leg work Saturday, but there was a whole lotta’ sitting going on around my house.

Today I’m still going to the gym, but I think I’ll do both chest and back today with light stationary biking, which are normally separated per this month’s routine That will leave more time tomorrow for pilates and swimming.

I did plenty of sitting on Saturday while watching college ball.  Hurray for another Clemson win!  I think the pony, paw prints, and purple sweater had something to do with it.

On Sunday, I did a lot of sitting at the computer.  My buddy’s getting married, so we’ve been emailing about wedding stuff.  Yup – this girl gets to be in it.  Yay!!!

Speaking of weddings, it wasn’t long ago my other buddy got her wedding photos back from the photographer.  Check out this hot couple.  Rawwwrrrrr.  I love photographers and their editing skills.

Purse: Kate Spade (thanks Karen!)

The resting doesn’t end there, while physically resting, I also had to do a bit of mental resting.  I tend to stress more than I should around the holidays, so it was good for me to take a breather.  Let’s hope the lower stress levels continue throughout the week…

  • How are your workouts as of late?  Hopefully better than mine!
  • Do you stress around the holidays?

WIAW

by Tiff

Before jumping into the food, I want to give a quick re-cap of yesterday’s workout. I really prefer the elliptical, but yesterday I did 45 minutes on the bike instead. My feet are really giving me fits, so I’m going to bike for a while to give them a break. Well, except today. I am about to go run the treadmill for 30 minutes before completing my leg workout. Let’s hope it goes well!

Now… onto the eats! First breakfast is half a pear. These pears are so small though that I may have to add some almonds or something. Second breakfast is the other half of the pear and a TBS of pb on an English muffin.

breakfast
Delish! I’ve been having a snack before lunch, which is just a rice cake. Lame. Lunch is a bit more interesting. It’s chopped veggies over romaine topped with 2% shredded sharp cheddar cheese, 16 grams of roast sunflower seeds, and 2 TBS of TJ’s light champagne vinaigrette.
salad
I’m not a big fan of having salads for lunch, but this one’s pretty good. Plus, I have extra motivation to have a salad every day for lunch this week. I’ll fill you in on that tomorrow.
My afternoon snack consists of sliced veggies and 4 TBS hummus. I know that’s a lot of hummus, but it’s so goooood.
snack attackSadly, because I had snack ridiculously early, I splurged on some vending machine pretzels later in the day.

Last night I had TJ’s Latin Style Black Bean soup for dinner. I was running off for a jewelry party and needed something quick (and preferably easy). This may have been paired with a few spicy flax tortilla chips.
soup
I had a glass of wine at the jewelry party. I really couldn’t stay long and was only trying to make an appearance, so I stuck to one. Plus, who wants to get all liquored up and buy an ugly piece of jewelry? Not this girl! Gotta tighten the belt for Black Friday shopping!
wine from monday
Cleo knows how hard it is to turn down a nice glass of wine.
  • What’s the best thing you’ve eaten lately?
  • What’s your vending machine go-to snack?

Be sure to check out Peas & Crayon’s for more great eats! (Almost forgot to add this one here this time – whoops!)

A Weekend of Pictures

by Tiff

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was too short, but it was good. I had a very relaxed Friday, but Saturday was a bit more eventful.

I worked out, baked, bought shoes, and enjoyed a date night with the mister. For my workout, I continued the Vacation Countdown plan from last week. I wish I were actually using it to count down to a vacation! I also did 45 very sweaty minutes of cardio on the stationary bike.

I felt a bit sore Sunday from all that leg work, but it wasn’t too bad. It’s good to feel the burn!

I’m glad I worked so hard at the gym, I needed to pre-burn Saturday’s snack. I know frozen yogurt is trendy right now, and while I don’t deny it’s yum-ness, I have to confess that I prefer good ole’ fashion ice cream.

This one’s got peanut butter and brownie bits inside. I couldn’t think of a better combo if I tried! Here’s a random fact about me, one of my favorite smells in the whole world is the smell of an ice cream parlor. I consider it a comfort smell; it brings back memories – and usually means I’m about to get ice cream!

Although they probably should have, the indulgences didn’t stop there. Kev and I had a great date night. With dinner, I enjoyed a Wolf Hill Brewing Co Trooper’s Alley IPA (say that five times fast) with my steak.

Sadly, the filet was over cooked and dry, but at least the beer was good! The restaurant got all their meat from local farms. Sweet.

We weren’t ready to end the night just yet, so we went for a nightcap at a different lounge/restaurant/bar/thing. I had a really awesome wine (not a great beer selection), and Kev got scotch. For the wine-o readers out there, I had a glass of Edge Cabernet Sauvignon 2007.

I detoxed a bit last night with a side salad and veggie wrap. The wrap had hummus, spinach, kalamata olives, grilled onion, and grilled red pepper.

Yes, it was as awesome as it looks! I think it even tasted better than my dry steak from Saturday, but don’t tell Kevin that. ;)

What was the best thing you did/drank/ate this weekend?
