20 Minutes

by Tiff

I had yesterday off from work, and a regret not taking better advantage of it.  I caught up on some laundry and crossed off a few other tasks from my to-do list, but I didn’t do anything very fun or exciting.  I hate to think that was my last holiday until Memorial Day.  Doh!

When I finally got to the gym, I wanted to skip cardio, but I told myself to just do 20 easy minutes on the elliptical.  I ended up talking myself into 30 minutes of speed/hill intervals on the treadmill.  Funny how that happens once you just get yourself going!

I foolishly wore a long-sleeve shirt and my thicker capris to the gym, which meant I got pretty warm.  10 minutes into my run, I pulled of the shirt.  I’m not sure what I hated more, that naked feeling or the looks from the creepy old men.

I don’t know how some ladies do it.  I quickly pulled it back on before beginning my cool down and moving on to weights.

Later in the day, I cooked up a lunch for Kevin to take to work , bacon and caramelized onion risotto.  Yup… pretty jealous of that one!

Not long after, I cooked up some dinner.  Kevin also got a side of sweet potato “fries.”  (Side note: I dislike both asparagus and salmon, but I know they’re good for me.  Even big kids don’t always want to eat their vegetables.)

  •  Got any get-it-done tricks to get yourself to the gym?
  •  Did you have the day off too?

  1. Isn’t awesome when you find your groove at the gym…especially when you weren’t feeling it at first?!? I love that. I’m way too self conscious to workout in a sports bra. I love that other women can rock them, but I prefer the longer tanks.

  2. Getting the motivation to start is always the hardest thing. I usually tell myself that I only have to do an easy 10 or 15 minutes and if I’m not feeling it, I can stop. Most of the time, though, by the time I get going, I start feeling a lot better and have no problem going for longer. I definitely DO have a problem with that naked feeling, though. I have no idea how some women can only work out in a sports bra either

  3. Awesome work on knocking out the workout! Usually half the battle for me is getting out of the house & to the gym, once I’m there it’s usually fairly easy. Telling myself only 10-15mins. helps & then I end up doing more! Oh mind games :)

  4. That’s awesome that you can still manage to eat salmon in spite of not liking it. I don’t like it either and will only eat it in sushi, so I miss out on a lot of the nutritional benefits.
I didn’t have the day off, but it was a fairly easy day traffic/work load wise.
I mainly do classes at the gym (boot camp, pilates, yoga, spin, Body Pump, circuit training) so I never have to worry about pushing myself, some super in shape person yells at me until I get going, haha.

  5. uh give me the recipe for the risotto please :)

  6. ooohhh post the risotto recipe…my hubby would love it!
