Body Love

First up – the not-so-clean cleanse has come to an end.  I threw in the towel for a few reasons:

  • I refused to order another black coffee from Starbucks yesterday.  Tall nonfat cappuccino for me!

  • I haven’t been recovering from my workouts.  I don’t think I’ve been doing the cleanse long enough for it to have affected my recovery, but a lack of adequate protein isn’t going to help me remedy the situation either.
  • I ran out of wine.  Okay okay… totally kidding.  I’ve got a stockpile… you know, for all the holiday visitors…
  • I weighed myself yesterday and decided I didn’t want to lose additional weight.

OMG – did she just mention weight?  Yup.  I went there.  That wasn’t really the purpose of the cleanse anyway, just a side effect.

To be honest, this Body Love post had a bit more to it this morning, but I made an edit.  I had second thoughts while at the gym, so as soon as I got back, I revised.  Nevertheless, the link love on body love and self love below is still awesome.  Check it out if you haven’t already.

i think you are perfectly Tiff and perfectly happy, such a blessing and rare to find these days. Insecurities can come from so many other sources besides weight. You mind friend are wise to notice when they are there and why they are UNTRUE!

  2. ^^ yeah, what Lindsay said! Sometimes I fall into that trap of feeling like I need to make external body improvements, but it’s really my spirit that needs working on in those moments. xoxo

  3. I love posts like this! it reminds me that I need to stop obsessing over weight and body issues. You are beautiful as are we all! Just need to remember that! 🙂

  4. Well if it wasn’t working, I’m glad you quit instead of suffering through! Especially if it wasn’t making you feel recovered from the gym. No bueno…

  5. I’m glad you quit the cleanse when it wasn’t working for you anymore.

  6. This is an awesome post, thanks for being honest & open so that we all can benefit from learning more about ourselves as you encourage! I needed this this week 🙂

  7. What a refreshing post to read! It’s not often that us “healthy living” bloggers say: hey, I’m good with my weight, I don’t feel the need to restrict, and I love myself the way I am. Seriously–role model attitude and words here. Thanks.

And you’re right–the whole VS thing this week is out of control, imo. My high school students were talking about it, and it was really sad the hear them talk about these “beautiful women” and such. They think they need to look like that!!! And, of course, that couldn’t be further from the truth, right! And then all these VS workouts floating around . . . . I just want a workout that kicks my butt and makes ME feel fabulous–not to make me (try) and look like a model (cause it ain’t gonna happen!). 🙂

  8. Love! It’s such a rare thing to find someone who is satisfied with their body and not constantly trying to work on changing it. Talk about refreshing! I think we often redirect dissatisfaction with other aspects of our life onto our bodies because having something physical to control is a lot easier than having to deal with other emotional/spiritual issues. Love ya, girl!

    Love that High Five Friday!!

I weighed myself yesterday and decided I didn’t want to lose additional weight. – YOU rock!! That’s amazing!

And I go through periods where all I want is black coffee and then I need something w/ soy/milk.. MMM coffee!

  11. Glad the cleanse is over! Go drink some wine and eat some cheese 😉

  12. You are one smart lady! High 5’s and hugs for being your awesome self.

  13. I love that you are so content with your body and you are doing things to take care of yourself rather than constantly trying to change it!! Thanks for the love to girly!

How do you not love Starbucks black coffee?? Yummyy!!

I love the concept of the not-so-clean cleanse; I end up doing a similar thing quite often. And yeah, when I eat junk, I just want more junk, and more junk.. yet when I’m eating clean and eating all the good stuff, I don’t crave the bad stuff. Gotta find some balance, right?

i always get these grand notions that i’m going to eat super clean, follow a perfect workout plan, etc…but that just doesn’t work. the reality of life is that i enjoy cupcakes, wine and the workout i “should do” isn’t always the right one for my body. i am such a firm believer in allowing yourself to enjoy food and exercise without associating guilt to it. life is truly too short!
