As I mentioned in the bottom of yesterday’s budget fashion post, I am trying out a few new things with my diet. Due to the hip inflammation I’m experiencing, I am focusing on eating anti-inflammatory foods and shying away from those that cause inflammation.
Before I go any further, I must note that anti-inflammation diets are for internal inflammation (like organs), not so much for hips. In addition, this is a bit hokie for me, but I’ll take all the help I can get.
This idea sounds like another reason to avoid that I already try to limit and include things I already enjoy eating.
For instance, omit animal products, except fish (yay sushi). Avoid processed foods. Add extra greens, mushrooms, and turmeric (yay curry). I’m not trying to follow this perfectly, but I’m willing to make some changes to see how things work for me.
For more information about inflammation diets, check out Dr. Weil’s anti-inflammatory pyramid or Brittany’s post.
I hope cocoa powder is anti-inflammatory; I had a few too many of these babies last night for dessert. Recipe coming later this week!
