I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. I know I did! I wish I ate a little cleaner, but I’m still quite happy with the way things turned out. Even though I ate dinner at home each night, I splurged a bit Saturday. It was delicious, though I forgot how much more I prefer alfredo to pesto.
On Saturday, Kevin and I had three other couples over for a wine tasting. (Have you noticed yet that we love hosting???) Each couple brought a bottle above and below $15, which is a lot of wine, not that I’m complaining.
Since it was a cabernet sauvignon tasting, I set out brie and white cheddar. I also made a garlic and artichoke white bean dip, which I served with veggies and pita wedges.
Of course, red wine always goes well with dark chocolate. I served up a version of Laura’s chocolate zucchini muffins. I mushed up some raspberries to use in place of applesauce, and then I added a few more berries for good measure. Raspberry and dark chocolate? Sounds like a perfect wine compliment to me!

As you can see from the bags, this was a blind tasting. Kevin and my bottles took 1st and 3rd place. Luckily, the the cheaper bottle won. Gotta’ love it when that happens!
What was the best thing you did this weekend?

I hosted a monthly Supper Club with some of my friends. I’m going to suggest we do a blind taste testing at our next dinner. We always drink wine so why not?

The best thing I did this weekend? Hmmm. The best thing FOR me? Probably walking around in the amazing weather yesterday with my friend for a few hours. What I thought was the best thing to do at the time? Jagerbombs at 1:00 at night at a bar with my friends after a long afternoon of drinking and eating. I guess it depends on when you ask this question?

Ha, I hear ya. When people left, I thought the leftover chocolate muffins were a good idea. Now, not so much…

I’ve been to one tasting that was a blind tasting. Kind of interesting to do it that way. You are less likely to go for what you normally would.

What a good idea using raspberries in the muffins! I’m going to try that next time I do them too.
I’ve been wanting to do a wine dinner for the longest time. I love seeing what others’ favorite “affordable” wines are. So many wines to try, so little time…

I love wine tastings – we’re doing one on Sunday for my March “Girls’ night out” which is really an afternoon out, but whatever! It’s also a wine-making party, so it should be a blast!

Wine making? That puts a unique spin on things. Sounds fun!

Sounds like a lovely weekend! I spent my weekend visiting and meeting more of my boyfriend’s family in Arizona. Was really nice to meet everyone I hadn’t met yet and spend time with everyone else. Your photos are GORGEOUS!

Thats such a good idea for a party! Will have to try that when I’m back home! This weekend I attended a fashion party then spent Saturday and Sunday dying from a hangover so not as productive as I would have liked! Haha! But what can you do!
