I’m sorry to report that I had a fairly pathetic Monday. It was a particularly awful day at work. I know; they’re all awful. This one was especially awful. I also had no motivation to work out. None.At.All.
But I did.
I completed some yoga and a little hip-strengthening pilates before work, and after work I bundled up for a 2-mile walk. It’s not much, but I’m supposed to be enjoying a restful week before my race this weekend.
Hmmm… about that race…
I received an email yesterday morning stating the course had been changed. Great. I checked the new course and saw that the elevation went from this:
to this.
Fizzle Sticks. <– Those may not have been my exact words.
In order to be less of a Negative Nelly, I’ll leave you with pics of a good lunch. Hey, at least something went right. (It’s leftover cabbage soup from the weekend. The recipe’s from Clean Eating Chelsey.)
Time to turn that frown upside down. I’ve got a therapy session (aka: a run) on the calendar. Happy Valentines Day!
- Ever had last-minute changes affect your race or workout?
- Tips for running hills when you haven’t trained for many of them???

Oh wow, that is a very dramatic change in elevation! I run a lot of hill while training in Seattle, and I just try to take it slow, run on my toes, keep a steady pace, and try not to lean forward too much with my body. You can totally do it! And, I kind of love the expression fizzle sticks …

FIZZLE STICKS is right…wowsa. That is quite the change to the course. I normally hussle up the hills…I cant stand going slow up them – they seem to take forever that way. You will kill this race Tiff! You are ready, you are strong and you are going to be amazing!

That certainly is big difference in elevation! But I am sure you will still rock it Tiff! And think of how accomplished you’ll feel after completing the challenge!!!
That soup looks delicious BTW!

I had no rest Sunday night and a super long day at work. The gym did not happen for me last night. I’m hoping that reserved energy will spill over into a kick-ass session tonight.

I expect it will. Show that gym who’s boss!

Whoa, that is crazy, I don’t think they should be allowed to change the course, and make it harder!
I run in my neighborhood and it is full of hills, so hopefully I will be ready for my half.. which apparently is very hilly too!?
Why do they do that?
February 14, 2012 at 10:18 am
