18 Weeks: Ch-ch-ch-ch-changessss

by Tiff

Hello All!  ‘Twas another busy weekend here.  I’m now at 18 weeks, which is pretty much 4.5 months.  Some changes have been happening, which is pretty cool though a bit frustrating at times as well.

bump   bump

How far along? 18 weeks

Baby’s size? length of a bell pepper (5.5 inches)

Total weight gain/loss: approximately 8 lbs, maybe 9

Sleep: Ugh.  (<– is that a sufficient answer?)

Best moment this week: I heard the heartbeat again at my doc appointment last week.  Sadly she said I couldn’t find out the gender yet, so I have to wait a few more weeks for that.  Waaahhhhh!

Miss Anything? Sleeping on my back

Movement: Maybe?  I think I’ve felt the baby move a couple times (like butterflies), but it was so faint that I’m not too sure.

Food cravings: Only ice cream… as usual

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope

Gender: I wish I knew!  I have a guess, but I’m trying not to think about it.

Symptoms: I feel like the belly exploded this week, though I know the picture doesn’t really show it.  Regular clothes are getting really uncomfortable.  I’ve also been having some muscle twitches, mainly in the belly, and some severe “pregnancy brain,” which I thought was only a myth!

Belly Button in or out? Still in, and rings are still on.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy though I was a little more moody than usual this week.

Looking forward to: Feeling the baby really move

target   old navy

As I mentioned, my clothes aren’t feeling very comfy right now.  I’ve purchased a few maternity items, though the only thing I’ve worn so far are the maternity jeans in my bump pics above.  I was happy to find the two dresses above though.  The black is from Target, and the orange is from Old Navy.

Of course, I also took a few pics from the weekend.  It’s everything from Friday morning’s gym session to Sunday afternoon’s food prep (Kevin’s enchilada casserole lunch).  Fun stuff!

MIMM #2

by Tiff

Hello!  I’m here linking up with Katie for my second Marvelous in My Monday (MIMM) post.

I made myself apple cinnamon pancakes this morning, am enjoying leftover homemade whipped cream in my coffee, and am postponing my workout until this afternoon.  So far, Monday is pretty marvelous!

MIMM

My parents visited this weekend, so it was a pretty busy one.  I treated us all to cheeseburger casserole at home (not as decadent as it sounds but still cheesy) before we visited one of my favorite bars on Friday.

Da Fam

Saturday was spent touring the city.  I wanted to take us all out to Good Food on Montford for dinner, but there was a 2.5-hr wait.  Hmmm… my belly ain’t down with that.  We hit up Brazwell’s instead.

Burger Night!

On Sunday, the fam left and I ate pie. No really.  I ate a lot of pie this weekend.  I made the strawberry pie and the homemade whipped cream for my guests (and because I wanted it) on Friday, but I was the only one who ate any.  Fine by me!

At least mom got to enjoy some apple pancakes on Sunday before she left.  Yup… just finishing up the leftover batter this morning.  Mmmmmm!

Work Hard, Rest Hard

by Tiff

Word Hard, Play Hard.  That’s how the phrase goes, right?  Well, that’s not how it went down at my house.  Kevin and I worked hard all week, and then we rested hard… or at least a lot harder than we usually do.

I probably should have taken a rest day on Friday, but I didn’t realize it until I was already at the gym.  I powered through a hard workout, and then I kept the workouts light over the weekend, a three-mile walk Saturday and again on Sunday.

cleo      ooooo

Kevin, on the other hand, worked really hard at work.  The poor guy didn’t get home until 8:30 at night on Friday, and then he had to return to the office on Sunday.  Hmmm… I’m not too sure I like this new job of his.

Luckily we caught a break after Kevin returned from work Saturday.  We tried a new restaurant with another couple, and if you’re in the Charlotte area, I thoroughly recommend it.  It’s called Deejai Thai, and sadly I didn’t get a picture of my amazing panang curry.

On Sunday, we had great weather, so I enjoyed a little rest n’ sunshine.  Of course, I later got to work in the kitchen.  Sunday fun-day turned into Sunday prep-day.

prep

At least part of my kitchen time paid off.  Mmmmm…. beeeeeef.

Not a bad weekend!  Even with a the rest I got, I think I could still use a few more hours this morning.  Who’s with me?

Marvelous in My Monday

by Tiff

Good Morning!  It’s a pretty marvelous Monday here thanks to all the weekend memories that are still floating around in my head.

It was filled with good runs, delicious food, sunshine, and time with friends.  Rather than re-hash every detail, today’s post is in pictures.  A picture’s worth a thousand words, right?

This girl walked up to a bar…

by Tiff

Nope, the title of this post isn’t a joke.  I actually walked up to two bars on Friday; the first was the pullup bar.  I did three real chin ups!  After a quick rest, I did two nearly-real chin ups!  The video is for my mom who never thought I could do it… I didn’t either.  ha

Later that evening, I walked up to a bar with Kevin to enjoy local brews.  I ordered NoDa Brewing’s Cold Craze.  It was good, but not good enough to order again.

Side Note: The chin ups thing took courage.  Do you know how long it took me to even attempt one?  Everyone at the gym has seen my failed attempts… many times.  For instance, I gave it another go this morning, but my arms were not having it!

Anyway… back to my weekend.  Saturday started with a chili run and ended with a warm evening of delicious eggplant parmesan rollatini and board games with two other couples.  I was too shy to snap a pic after it had actually finished baking…

Sunday Funday included pumpkin pancakes, a sock bun, and a Super Bowl party.  I brought my slow cooker buffalo chicken shoved into whole wheat pitas.  By the way, I’m updating that buffalo chicken recipe tonight.  Having finally made the recipe a second time, I think it was due for a few revisions.

I’m still not sure about the sock bun, but I was definitely digging those pitas!

  • Anyone else got a crazy week ahead of them?
  • Would you serve your guests eggplant?  I almost didn’t, but it went over well- thank goodness!
