Monday… Already???

by Tiff

Do I really have to go to work today?  I was on vacation in Aruba all last week, and frankly, thinking of returning to the office is downright upsetting.  Sigh… I think today’s going to be a yoga day.

Another reason today’s a yoga day – new distance PR yesterday morning.  Yeah, I owned all 9.75 of those miles.  The training plan called for 10 miles, and I realized only 9.5 miles fit the 10% rule of running.  Therefore, I respected both by honoring neither.  9.75 sounded good to me.

My belly wasn’t feeling great for the entire run.  That’s probably because I ate nothing but seafood and fruit for the entire week I was on vacation.  The seafood was the kind smothered in butter, cheese, or peanut sauce.  The fruit was the kind served as punch… with rum… lots of rum.

Though I’m sad to be returning to work, I’m at least happy to be home and sharing some pics with you.

Ahhhhh, that was nice.  Have a great Monday!

Baby Bug

by Tiff

As you all know, I was bitten by the baby bug a month or so ago. It bit me pretty hard. However, I think I’ve made a full recovery. You can’t get pregnant from a bug bite.

So if babies aren’t in the picture, not that they actually were, what’s on tap for the next few years? I have fun plans and less-than fun plans. The less-fun plans include working on my career. Right now, the word “career” still seems like a joke considering my current position, but you never know what the future holds.

Got Degree - Gotta Use It

Time for fun plans. Fun #1: I need more travel! Kevin and I are good about getting out and about, and I’m not ready to slow down just yet (or ever.)

Here are trips I want to take:

  • 2012: Big Trip – Aruba (plane seats booked)
  • 2012: Mini Trip – Savannah (hotel room booked)
  • 2013: Ireland (or Prague… so many choices!)
  • 2013: Mini Trip – Portland, Oregon (if travel funds allow)
  • 2014: Brazil (World Cup Baby!)

World Cup, Germany: USA v Italy

I’d really really really like to visit Munich for Oktoberfest in 2013, but I’m just not sure that’s going to fit the budget. That would a great way to celebrate my 5-year wedding anniversary, but I think we can go somewhere else much cheaper. (We’re frugal travelers who don’t mind little B&Bs, market meals, and cheap attractions <– some of the best museums are free with donation.)

Trains = Great Value

Fun #2: I’d like to put on about 5-10 pounds before having kids. I don’t *need* to gain any since I’m within the healthy weight range for my age/height. I’m close to the bottom end though, so I’d rather not chance anything. I think I’ll easily be able to add the 5- 10 over the next few years, so I can’t say I’m really in a hurry for this one!

  • Do you have any big plans for the near (or not so near) future?
  • Are you as vacation-crazy as I am, planning years in advance?

Sleep Please!

by Tiff

Did anyone else have a sloooow morning?  I woke up to my 5 a.m. alarm, but I accidentally fell back asleep until Cleo’s purring woke me up again at 5:19.  Whoops!  I must admit, this is the first time I was happy one of my furry children woke me from my blissful slumber.

I headed off to the gym and began my new workout.  Well, I actually started the June workout yesterday, but I didn’t really give it 100%.  Today I pushed myself a little harder.  I did 35 min on the stairclimber and finished up with leg work.  Don’t worry, I’ll post the workout later this week.  It’s a good one; I can already tell!

I want to share a recipe with you really quickly.  No, I didn’t make it up on my own.  You can get it at A Year of Slow Cooking, and it’s called Balsamic Chicken with Spring Veg.  It’s not my favorite, but it was perfect for a slow day off from work.  While the crock pot cooked all day, I was able to prep other foods for the week, run errands, and do some laundry.  (The fun doesn’t stop.  Gag.)  Anyway, Kevin likes this one, and we ate it with brown rice.  I also substituted low-sodium soy sauce and a bit of black pepper for worcesteshire sauce due to the HFCS.  It’ll feed us 2.5 nights.  Hurray for leftovers!

Now that I’m back from vacation and life is resuming its normal routine (sad to be back, but happy to get back to the routine), I can finally accept the Smile Award given to me by Kaila at The Healthy Helper.  Thanks Sweetie!

The Rules:

  1. Smile!
  2. Write 3 Things You Like About Your Looks
  3. Write 3 Things You Appreciate About Your Personality
  4. Write Something You Find Beautiful in Other People
  5. Award As Many Other People As You Like & Let Them Know

Here it goes…

  1. Smile!
  2. I like my hair, calves, and cheekbones.
  3. I like my laid-back attitude, my sense of humor, and my smilieness (new word?).
  4. I find people’s smiles beautiful.
  5. Due to how busy I am today (always hard getting back in the swing of things), I’ll skip this for now with *hopes* of sharing additional link love at some point in the future!

Did everyone else have a good weekend?  Did you have a hard time getting back into the swing of things?
