Okay… it’s not really what you’re thinking. It’s like yesterday’s “Best Diet in the World” post. It’s the best if it’s the one you’ll actually follow.
I’ve thrown in the towel on P90x. It was never my goal to follow it exactly and complete 90 days of it. I figured I’d do it a month, but I suppose three weeks is close enough.
My thoughts? Well, it’s pretty good. I recommend it for semi beginners who aren’t necessarily new to working out (maybe you’ve already been walking/jogging or doing light weights at home) but are intimidated by or aren’t ready to commit to a gym just yet.
So why did I stop? I believe in working smarter, not harder. For me right now, these workouts are more hard than smart. They are an hour long (or more if you add in the abdominal part that you should do about 3x/week), but Ethan usually just naps 30 minutes. By the time I go to him, calm him down, and get back to the workout, my heart rate has dropped and my muscles aren’t as warm.
Getting Smarter: I am switching to 30-minute circuits in the morning on MWF, and I’m going to continue some spin class, jogs, and/or gym weights on Saturdays and Sundays when Kevin can watch E. I also hope to get in a stroller walk in the afternoon on MWF to get a more complete workout.
Physically hard, but not pheasibly hard. So here are the deets:
- Monday – This circuit by Naomi (1 Fit Foodie), see the bottom of her post
- Wednesday – Lower Body Circuit (with some abs)
- Friday – Upper Body Circuit (with some abs)
Here is Wednesday’s circuit. I used dumbbells for many of the moves, but you don’t need them if you don’t have them. I’ll post Friday’s next week after I’ve gotten a chance to try it.
Sorry this post was littered with Ethan photos. It was either shots of him or of me working out. Sweaty me = not so cute. Ethan = cute. I’m sure you understand.
- How are you working out smarter?
- How’s the weather near you? Sounds lame, but yes, I’m actually interested.
