Holiday Cheers

Hello!  I hope all of my U.S. readers enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  I sure did!  Ethan was darling, and the food was delicious.  No complaints here!

holidayNow that I’ve baked my apple pie and eaten my turkey, I just want to say, bring it on, Christmas!

Bolthouse Farms sent me goodies recently that have helped get me in the mood for Christmas cheer… or cheers really.  They sent their three seasonal flavors, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Eggnog, and Peppermint Mocha.

I’m usually a big peppermint mocha fan, so I was most excited for that one.

bolthouseTo my surprise, I actually preferred the eggnog flavor.  I had never tried eggnog, so I guess I found a new yummy holiday treat!  The other flavors were good, but don’t expect much of a coffee taste from the mocha or latte.

The fun flavors (and the martini shaker Bolthouse Farms sent) got my creative juices flowing.  Here’s a fun and festive recipe using the peppermint mocha flavor.  I thought of it, but the barista/bartender of the house, Kevin, actually brought it to life.

Peppermint Mochatini

  • 1 shot of (decaf) espresso
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 2 oz Bolthouse Farms peppermint mocha
  • ice
  • whipped cream & crushed peppermint (optional)

Shake the first four ingredients in a shaker.  (Shaken, not stirred)  Strain the ice.  Top with optional whipped cream and crushed peppermint.  Enjoy (responsibly)!

beerMochatinis and such are fun every now and again, but I think I’ll stick to Christmas beer instead.  (No shocker there!)  Side note – I’m not usually a double IPA fan.  Singles are usually fine, but this was a pretty good brew.  Recommended!
