This was a very baby-focused weekend. Kevin and I attended our childbirth class on Friday night and all day Saturday; we then had our hospital tour on Sunday evening. Thank goodness there was a Clemson game in there to break it up a bit!
How far along? 35 weeks!!! According to Baby Center’s website, I just hit 8 months this week. However, according to WebMD, I just started my 9th month. Hmmm… now I can see why everyone just goes by weeks.
Baby’s size? He’s approximately 5.25 lbs and over 18 inches long.
Total Weight Gain: I think I’m about 25 lbs, but I’ll find out at the gym today.
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: This was the worst week of sleep yet, but luckily the last two nights were much better once those round ligament pains eased.
Best moment this week: Learning with Kevin in our class
Miss Anything? This week was mainly sleeping on my back and a big sub with deli meat
Movement: Yup, he keeps bumping around in there, but he has less and less room to move. It’s cute feeling him try to get comfy though. I think he’s as uncomfortable as I am!
Food cravings: Starbucks. The crazy thing is that I wasn’t craving anything in particular, I just wanted Starbucks. Oh, and of course I’m still loving my ice cream.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nachos. I split some nachos with my mom on Thursday night, and I had terrible indigestion. It didn’t hurt toooooo badly that night, but it was pretty awful Friday morning.
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: The usual suspects (pains), as well as some lethargy, insomnia, congestion, and that one round of indigestion. Kevin did the dishes last night (crazy, right???), so I guess that’s a positive symptom of pregnancy. ha
Belly Button in or out? Out/Pokey
Wedding rings on or off? Still on but a little snug at times
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to: I have an interview today, so wish me luck. Though I don’t expect anything to come of it, I’d be really super pumped to get this position. It sounds like a great fit… well, except for that whole timing part.
Childbirth class was enlightening. Kevin and I learned a couple pregnancy basics, a great deal about childbirth, and a few infant care tips, like how to bathe a baby. Isn’t our little plastic buddy cute?
I know other classes are popular, like the Bradley Method, but this two-part class was just enough for me. In fact, I thought a couple of the videos were a bit TMI, but I guess it’s good to be prepared. Any more information would have probably overwhelmed me.
I guess this is just as good a time as any to mention my birth plan, or at least part of it. I only want the medical staff and Kevin in the room with me, and I’m still iffy about pain medicine. I plan to go without medication as long as possible, hopefully all the way, but I’m totally not against a little help if I need it. If I go for medication, I’m open to an epidural, but I’m not open to analgesics. I’m sure they’re fine for some people, but they didn’t sound right to me.
I really liked one thing my teacher said. She said all birth is a natural and wonderful thing, so she prefers to label it medicated or non-medicated, not natural versus… well… unnatural. Agreed!
Side Note: I took the above picture while thinking of my face. Silly, right? Seriously though – I obviously prefer my body a bit slimmer; however, I kinda’ like the extra fluff around my face. Another positive symptom, eh?
- Mamas – Did you take any classes you really enjoyed?
- How was your weekend?
