Hello! Can you believe it’s the first day of the third trimester? I’m getting used to the idea, but it’s getting real. Yipes + Yippie!
For now, it’s time for a bumpdate!
How far along? 28 weeks! 3rd trimester baby!
Baby’s size? 2.25 lbs and 14.8 inches from head to heels
Total Weight Gain: I think 19 pounds
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: Terrible. I’ve been having pains, which I’ll get into Tuesday, but they wake me up about every 2-3 hours. Hmm… I guess that’s good infant prep?
Best moment this week: Sleeping in a bit on Sunday, yaaay sleeeeep!!!
Miss Anything? Sleep (okay, I’ll quit talking about sleep now…)
Movement: Yup. My belly looks so funny when he curls up on one side.
Food cravings: Nope. I haven’t been int he mood for much of anything lately, which is odd. I’m sure that will pass soon. Very soon.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Symptoms: pregnancy acne and back pain is slightly better, but other things popped up:
- woke up so hungry one night I had to go downstairs for 3AM cereal
- those pains I mentioned above – makes me very eager for my appointment this week
- feet and knees are swelling more these days, but it’s nothing crazy
Belly Button in or out? Neither, flat
Wedding rings on or off? Still on but a little tighter when I get hot
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: My appointment this week
I wanted to share just a bit about day care and baby books. I’m currently on waiting lists for two day cares. Both are church day cares that are close to home and relatively affordable. I got on one waiting list months ago, and I got on the other waiting list a week or two ago. I can’t believe how quickly these things fill up! Ladies, the moment you find out you’re pregnant, start looking at day cares if you think you’ll need one!
Onto the books… there are two I like and two I don’t. What to Expect When You’re Expecting has a lot of great info, but for me, it was borderline overload. I quit reading it pretty early on in my pregnancy. I’m halfway through The Happiest Baby on the block. I obviously can’t say if the keys to a happy baby work or not, but I don’t like how it’s written. It makes a lot of claims that aren’t backed by anything but one guy’s opinion. I’m still working on it, but so far, meh.
I did enjoyed On Becoming Baby Wise. Again, I can’t say if the tips and feed/wake/sleep scheduling work or not, but it sounded good to me. One book I definitely have to recommend is Belly Laughs. It’s lighthearted, comical, and perfect for early/middle pregnancy.
- Mamas, got books to recommend? Did it take you long to find a day care?
