I’m sure regular readers may have noticed, I’m a bit of a health nut. The truth is, I’m not too nutty about it. Yup, most of you have noticed that as well. The thing is – I’m more “almost natural“ than “all natural.“
Don’t get me wrong, I try to buy natural and organic foods when possible, and I believe in increasing the veggies and decreasing the processed junk.
I’m also pretty nutty about balance. I’d be lying if I told you “I crave bell peppers!” or “Kale makes a wonderful dessert!” As I mentioned yesterday, I had a major craving last week for this Pop Tarts and Diet Coke.
I kicked the
Diet Crack Diet Coke habit years ago, but I still enjoy them from time to time. I also wouldn’t dare say that there’s anything nutritious about a Pop Tart, but ya know what – they hit the spot!
As usual, I dealt with a little food guilt, especially since I fed Baby E Pop Tarts and Diet Coke too, but it’s okay because All Natural is Not All or Nothing!
Many of us, myself included, are more likely to fall off the natural bandwagon once we give into comfort foods, childhood favorites, cheaper alternatives, or whatever has you grabbing for the processed box of goodies, but we shouldn’t!
In my opinion, eating “clean” is great, but beating yourself up over it isn’t. I take the less is more approach. Less chemicals and additives is more beneficial, but even if you’re not 100% free of them, you’re still limiting your exposure by trying. Even though I may give into some of my happy foods, I’m still fighting the good fight and making good choices most of the time.
And that’s just my two cents…
- How do you handle eating clean? Do you care more about ingredients lists, macros, both, neither? Do tell!
