Baby was really on the move this week, but so were Mom & Dad. Kevin and I left for California on Wednesday and returned late last night. Lemme’ tell ya, I’m exhausted! I’ll have more to share on the trip a little later this week, but I think I’m due for a bumpdate.
How far along? 23 weeks
Baby’s size? large mango (over 11 inches long) and weighing in at over a pound
Total weight gain/loss: Not sure, I probably went over my pound/week track while on vacation
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: Not so great – except for those nights when I was traveling and completely exhausted. (out.like.a.light.)
Best moment this week: Date night dinner with Kevin on Pier 39
Miss Anything? My regular strength and energy
Movement: Yup, he’s just bopping along in there, especially when I wake, go to bed, or eat a meal
Food cravings: Chinese food, but just the greasy really-bad-for-you kind… figures
Anything making you queasy or sick: Yup, exhaustion ***more on this below***
Symptoms: Don’t get me started… biggies are acne, MAJOR back pain, and round ligament pain
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, though I get pretty cranky when I get tired
Looking forward to: the weekend (I know I was just on vacation, but the thought of work today is dreadful.)
Okay, so about the “anything make you sick” question – Exhaustion did me in. We flew to San Francisco on Wednesday, arriving in the early afternoon after a layover. Travel makes this preggo tired, but we decided to walk around a wee bit anyway. No biggie, right? I also went out for my friend’s bachelorette party dinner that evening. Though I was wise enough to skip a night of dancing, I experienced a good bit of round ligament pain with every step on the way back to the hotel.
The following day (4th of July), the pain continued, though it let up if I took it slow. Kevin and I were exploring Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, etc. that day, so we did a fair amount of walking. I felt okay at dinner, but later that evening, I was sooooo sick. This article says round ligament pain can lead to vomiting and severe pain/cramping, and since Kevin and I split an entree for dinner without him getting sick, I guess I blame my exhaustion and not bad seafood.
Luckily, the other days on our trip didn’t involve as much walking, though they were still far from restful. After two flights yesterday (including a 6-hour layover), we arrived late last night. Yea… I’ll be skipping workouts or sticking to only light yoga for a couple days…
I’m sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but I thought that was worth sharing. I never knew stretching ligaments could be such a, well, pain. It’s a great reminder to myself and to other preggos that you’re more fragile than normal. And that’s okay!!!
***I almost forgot to mention, the winner of the Chic Pipsqueak giveaway is Dorsa! Congrats mama!
- Does travel tire you out too?
- If you are or have been preggo, did round ligament pain make you sick?
