WIAW: Heart Health Month

by Tiff

Did you know that February is heart health month? I guess everyone and everything gets a month, eh? I’ll take any excuse to celebrate, so I’ll be celebrating the month with workouts, dark chocolate, red wine, healthy fats, and lots of snuggles. Snuggles are good for your heart too ya know, so my kitties better watch out!

Moving on with the food… Here’s my first WIAW of Heart-Health Month.

First Breakfast: rice cake and a wee bit of peanut butter

Second Breakfast: Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon Oat cereal***, extra-DHA milk, and a naval orange

brekkie

*** The cereal has soluble fiber, some protein, heart-healthy cinnamon, and not too much sugar. Win!

Snack: Sunwarrior Vanilla protein in water

Lunch: veggie bowl (broccoli slaw, cauliflower, edamame, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil) & Trader Joe’s wheat pita

veg

Snack: carrots & more pb (I’ve been a little obsessed the past couple days.)

carrots

Dinner: ratatouille polenta bake (subbed artichokes canned in water for zucchini and used less cheese, this recipe is always a win whether I strictly follow it or just wing it)

ratatouille veg

Dessert: pumpkin protein mug cake! (I’ve been a hungry beast lately… not sure what’s up with that.)

  • Had any good veggie bowls lately? I need new combo ideas!

  2. Love pb with carrots! Don’t know if you’re able to get kabocha squash, but it’s great chopped up in a veggie bowl and I also love to add some kind of fruit like pomegranate seeds or blueberries. Happy WIAW!

  11. Any reason to eat more chocolate and snuggle is good in my books :D And have you ever tried baby carrots with Sunbutter? I can’t speak for PB and carrots, but SB and carrots is pretty darned tasty! Wish I could help you with the veggie bowls, but my stomach hasn’t been taking kindly to veggies lately so I’ve kind of been avoiding them. Oops.

I’m a bit obsessed with Indian dishes at the moment. Probably because they’re so tasty, easy to prepare and SO cheap! I also love Thai stir fries. This week I made a sweet n sour vegetable wok stir fry. Very simple to make and only took 15 minutes!
    Happy WIAW!
Hope you’re having a great week xx
