Eat-In-Month was going strong… until it wasn’t. I think Kevin and I will probably eat in tonight, so a little slip up from last night won’t hurt, right?
We were originally supposed to meet 4 other couples for a fellowship dinner as part of our married couples Bible study. Sooooo I did my makeup, curled my hair, and threw on a dress right after work.
Before departing for dinner, Kevin and I met up with his work colleagues for a happy hour at Mortimer’s Pub. I hadn’t been there before and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Of course, I also really enjoyed my beer.
Not long before leaving, I checked my email on my phone only to see that all the other couples canceled on us. Ugh, really????
Rather than give up on a night out, Kevin offered to take me to one place I’ve been wanting to try for about a year now, The Cowfish. It’s a burger-sushi fusion joint, and yes, that includes burger sushi. The wait is always long, and frankly, we don’t get out much (for dinner, that is).
Get a drink while you browse the menu. The menu is so exhaustive you’ll need to stay hydrated. Side note: the draft beer list is weak, but Thursday is half-price saki night.
Kevin got the filet sushi, which was delicious. I got the bento box, complete with one slider and sweet potato fries, part of a rainbow roll and edamame, and a little cucumber salad that I didn’t touch.
Everything was sooooooooo delicious! (Except for the cucumber salad – totally skipped over that) If I had to cheat on my eat-in-month challenge, I’m glad I did it here. There was so much food that I even took my edamame home to have for snack today.
- Any restaurants on your to-try list?

What a cool idea for a restaurant! So unique!

I’ve seen this restaurant on Caitlin HTP’s blog before and it looks so awesome! I love how their bento box comes with sushi, fries and a slider – the best of both worlds.
One restaurant on my to try list is The Works, which is one of those burger restaurants with a huge menu of different topping combinations. Plus they offer elk burgers, which are one of my favourite kinds!

It’s a bummer that plans fell through but it looks like you made the best of it! That bento box sounds awesome!

“Side note: the draft beer list is weak, but Thursday is half-price saki night.” Sounds like a fair trade off.

I just found your blog recently, and didn’t realize that you’re a fellow Charlottean! Love Cowfish and it’s always worth the wait!

That place sounds great!
Tom and I have a list of restaurants we want to try, I think there may be 100 places on it! Haha, we have work to do!

Sounds like fun, but I HATE when people cancel last minute…one of my biggest pet peeves!

Fun! Isn’t it great when plans change, but end up working out so well?!? I love sushi, and the restaurant sounds really unique. Have a great weekend!

It sounds like it was totally worth blowing your challenge. Well, maybe it was just a little slip!

We were supposed to drive into Charlotte today. Bummer that we didn’t, because I really want to try this place now!
Oh, and we’ve tried eat-in challenges and we fail EVERY time. We NEED to get out of the house apparently. We’ve given up. Now we just try to always have a reason if we’re going to go out: celebration, coupon, etc. And sometimes “it’s Tuesday” is a celebration.

Haha – I love that youcalled the draft list weak. I do that all the time and people are all “beer snob!” Yeah… I am a beer snob! LOL!

My to try list is endless!

Move over surf and turf! This place looks unreal. Best of both worlds.
Hope you had a great weekend:)
