The Big Snow

by Tiff

The meteorologists warned us. Counties closed schools early, and workers salted the roads. We were all prepared… for nothing. Ahhh, so is the story of the South. Not one flurry fell on my yard, though I think a few puddles may have frozen.

This was all happening on Friday. I wasn’t feeling so great anyway, so I didn’t mind chilling at home with my kitties, a movie, and a blazing fire. Kevin and I didn’t stock up on milk and bread, but I had him stop on his way home for OJ and diet ginger ale. Close enough, right?

Don’t mind that champagne back there…

I felt much better on Saturday. I wasn’t back to normal by any means, but I was able to enjoy wedding festivities and a lil’ wedding after party. What’s better than party? More party, of course.

grilled cheese as the first course at the wedding – too cute!

So I was thinking about this sickness, as do most people who are sick, and I don’t think it was a relapse from what I had two weeks ago. I think my already weakened immune system let in a bug from the doctor’s office I visited Monday for my physical.

See, routine physicals really do more harm than good! (Totally jk, I just really hate those things.) Since the less-than-favorable blood test results, I’ve been doing a little homework on the matter.

off topic, but the above pics are the tahini casserole I made for Kevin’s lunch this week

I’ll be back with you on how I plan to combat those results tomorrow. Until then, happy Monday friends!

  • Have you experienced any winter weather this year? How about winter illness?

  1. We had similar forecasts and “letdowns” (although i wasn’t too sad about it- I hate snow and ice). We were supposed to get crazy snow and ice yesterday. It really only got to semi-frozen sleet that went away when it warmed and the rain started. I’ll take it… :)

  2. oh man that casserole looks aaaamazing :)

  3. GInger Ale is my all time favorite go-to beverage when I’m sick. I swear that stuff will cure anything… or at the very least, make you feel better :D And yes to winter weather and winter sickness. The weather has been a lot worse than the sickness, which I guess I should be thankful for? But really… it wouldn’t kill it to warm up a little.

  4. Yes to both! Blech! Winter weather always in MN :-) Even March is still winter for us. I always think, “Spring is coming! Spring is coming!” right around then, but it’s really not.

    • I know what you mean about the fake outs. This weekend it was in the 30s, but today it’s going to get up to 70-something. Crazy weather.

  5. This weather is whack attack! It’s almost 70 here in STL today & is going to be 30 again on Wednesday, I feel like I’m living in the twilight zone! Happy Monday & that casserole looks yum!

  6. We got snow on Thursday. It wasn’t much, but I worked from home anyway. And today we’re supposed to be getting sleet and frozen rain, before tomorrow turns to 60 degrees. Oh weather. so annoying ;)
    I’m glad you’re feeling better!

  7. Luckily we have not had any crazy snow yet this year. It was bitter cold last week though–yuck. The tahini casserole looks interesting–how’d it turn out?

    • I stole a bite and thought it was good, but he said it got a little bland after a while. Hmmm… perhaps better as a side dish?

  8. Ugh, we’ve had more snow, fog, and cold temps than I care for, that’s for sure! As for illness, I’ve only managed to get one head cold a few weeks ago, but nothing more than that. I hope it stays that way! Hope you get to feeling better SOON!

  9. We all got sick last week, too! After I took my daughter to the dr for a check up… I am pretty sure that is where we picked up the germs. Oh, well…we’re all back to normal now. Rest up!

  10. Glad you’re feeling better! We’ve had one snow day this year and it was melted by noon. LOL.

  11. I live in NY so we have already gotten plenty of winter weather! Fun stuff, let me tell you! :)

    • I always feel like I’m “in the know” with NY weather since I watch Good Morning America a couple mornings a week. Hey, at least I’m learning something from the news, eh? haha
