Don’t worry.  I don’t have any earth-shattering news over here, no life-changing confessions.  Just wanted to share some truthiness.

“Truthiness is what you want the facts to be, as opposed to what the facts are. What feels like the right answer, as opposed to what reality will support.” According to Stephen Colbert and Urban Dictionary

1. I started a new routine this week, and Tuesday was leg day.  OMG.  My legs have never been this sore, at least my quads haven’t.  Stairs, toilet seats, and basically everything was against me the following two days.

leg day     leg day

2. I’m feeling crappy again.  Yup – fever, chills, and coughs kept me up last night.  No fun.  I guess it’s a relapse since I was sick only two weeks ago and have had the sniffles ever since.  I guess I need to cool it on the workouts for a while.  Perhaps I did too much too soon after I was sick?  I attended a spin class this week, but I won’t be doing it next week!

3. Yesterday was national peanut butter day.  Believe it or not, my house is lacking in the pb dept.  Whaaaa?  The only nut butter is leftover Nutella from those Oreo cheesecake bars, but I put it on my last piece of banana bread anyway.  Close enough, eh?

5. My blood work came back from the doc.  It’s not very good.  High cholesterol runs in my family, so despite my exercise and plant-eating ways, it’s still pretty high.  You can expect to hear a wee bit more on this next week.

6. My last truth.  I don’t love cooking.  Sure, I think it’s okay most of the time.  However, cooking with wine is a hobby.  No… I don’t mean putting it in the food.

Whew – so much to share, so little time.  Ha.  Got any truths for me?

  1. I agree, cooking with wine is always better.

Sorry to hear about the blood work. I know my dad had high cholesterol & my mom told him to take this vitamin and it totally helped him bring his down. I’ll ask her what it’s called today because I can’t remember right now.

  2. Truthiness… I like it 😀 My truth is that I really need to go get my blood work done but I’ve been too much of a chicken poop to go do it. Needles. Eep!

High cholesterol runs in my family too. it’s a struggle. Mine was just 7 points over normal, but it was still frustrating because my good cholesterol is so good, but the bad kind is REALLY bad. And I got it taken right before Thanksgiving/Christmas/my birthday so I shudder to think what it’s probably at now.

Cooking with wine is the only way to cook 🙂

  4. Megan says:

Why would you want to waste wine in your food, doesn’t it burn off the alcohol… so wasteful : ) I think your style of cooking is perfect!

  5. Michelle says:

    Feel better!!

High cholesterol runs in my family too. Yay!

Thank you for cooking with wine. I only hope you drank enough for the two of us 🙂

  6. You don’t keep PB in the house? You should be arrested.

  7. High cholesterol, diabetes, and high blood pressure all run in my family. Kinda scary! I love getting my blood work done because it gives me concrete proof about what’s going on inside. And I’m a huge dork and love to compare my year over year results!

  8. Here, here . . . to cooking with wine. 😉 Cholesterol is such an interesting thing . . . who it effects and such. I’ll be curious to read what you find out. I should probably get a general check-up soon, I haven’t been to see a doctor in ages, but I’m beginning to wonder where I’m at with some of these things–just to have an idea. Have a great weekend!

  9. That stinks about the blood work. Raw almonds are supposed to help and oatmeal..thats all i know! Good luck with that…
Hmmm…a truth from me is that I have been slacking on my super tight glucose control with guests in town. BUT today Im back on track. Guests are gone and back to eating healthy, going to bed early and regular workouts!

  10. I love #6. Truth: Sometimes I just want some good fried chicken.

  11. Jessie says:

Sorry to hear about your blood work girl. Just keep smiling because you are too beautiful to not 🙂

Truth: Unless I’m eating pancakes in public, I always eat them with my hands instead of a fork.

  12. Nichole says:

Sweets, I am seriously sorry to hear about the dr. A truth, my mom is currently under serious medical watch bc her High cholesterol. She runs all the time. It is breaking my heart. This hits close to home, I’ll be thinking about you!
