I was lucky to have the off from work for the holiday yesterday, but it sure didn’t feel like a day off. While Kevin was at the office, I kept myself pretty busy.
I was at the doc’s office by 8 a.m. to see if they’d take my blood early. I really really really didn’t want to fast until my 2 p.m. appointment – 8 was hard enough for me! Sadly, the nurse refused, so this was breakfast.
I came back to the house, finished some laundry and dishes, swung by UPS, took my car in for an alignment, and made it to the grocery store. ***Side note, going to the grocery store around lunch time when you’re not allowed to eat lunch is no picnic.
After finishing up a few more chores, I squeezed in a little retail therapy prior to my appointment. Believe it or not, all this activity actually took my mind off my grumbling belly. I wasn’t toooooo hangry during my appointment.
Of course, I had food and workout clothes in the car. No surprise there, eh? Papaya to the rescue!
After 30 minutes of elliptical and some back and biceps training, I scarfed last night’s leftovers around 4 p.m. without spoiling my dinner. Cabbage and kale casserole hit the spot. Well, I think a lot of things would have hit the spot, but you get the idea.
Whew – thank goodness I don’t have to do that for another year!
- Are you good about regular physicals?
- Do you carry snacks when running errands?

Fasting until 2?! Yikes. I’m with you in that 8am would be hard enough!
I do get regular physicals, but not blood work. I haven’t had blood work in a while, but I hope to do an advanced lipid profile really soon, they are all the rage these days!

The worst! I had to wait until 10 or something close to it for mine last year at work… I was not fun to be around…

Ick. This reminds me that I have to go get my blood taken. I’ve been putting it off for a while now because I’m afraid of needles, but thankfully I don’t have to do any fasting because I’m absolutely horrible when I don’t have enough food in me.

That’s me too. They said I had high blood pressure but that it was probably because I was so worked up over the impending doom (aka: arm prick).

mmm that kale casserole looks delish! I’m making a mushrrom/kale casserole tonight! I will hopefully share the recipe tomorrow if it turns out well!

Yum! I bet I’d love that. I’d even get it all to myself since the hubby isn’t into mushrooms.

I’m pretty bad about physicals, but I did get blood work done this year. Everything came back good!
Fasting until 2 would be terrible. I’m impressed you got all that done on an empty stomach!

I’m glad everything came back good. I wasn’t so lucky. My doc told me to eat better and exercise more. Really??? ha

My purse always contains almonds, pistachios and a small tin of dark chocolate. Always.

Mmmm, dark chocolate – yes!

I would never make it until 2 PM! I’d reschedule. LOL.

I never carry snacks, but always wish that I do when I’m suddenly starving and cranky!
