Yay – WIAW Time! I’m feeling a bit under the weather, so here’s my What I Ate Wednesday for Wellness. Actually, it would make a little more sense if I had actually stuck to the planned eats for wellness, but I go a little carb-crazy when I’m sick.
Breakfast: Special K Protein Plus with unsweetened almond milk and a vitamin-c packed grapefruit
Snack: an apple a day, right?
Lunch: nutrient packed cauliflower curry bowl
Snack: planned = plain Greek yogurt (with Lactobacillus reuteri that has been found to block the replication of viruses) and sliced strawberries (with lots of vitamin-C); actual = tooooooo many Terra chips!
Dinner: half chicken breast, cauliflower, and sweet potato (loads of beta carotene for healthy skin, your sickness shield)
So that’s it. Not perfect. Not bad either. Here’s to hoping I feel better before this weekend!
- What do you first reach for when you get sick?

I turn into a carb monster when I’m sick too! I thought I was the only one. And it’s for simple carbs like bagels, toast, saltine crackers, etc. I bet it’s because our bodies require more energy to do their germ-fighting thing & they don’t want to waste time digesting & assimilating nutrients. Whoa.. nutrition nerd, or what? I’m going to stop now.
Hope you feel better soon!

Sorry that you’re not feeling well, Tiff… everyone seems to be coming down with something lately, and I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that I can avoid picking up whatever it is. Hope you feel better soon! And your eats definitely look healthy to me! My carb cravings go through the roof as well when I’m sick, and I usually end up eating crazy amounts of toast and cereal.

I am terrified of getting sick! My best defense is always a good night sleep- or LOTS of good night sleeps. Eating clean, lots of fruits which are easy for the body to digest allowing it to focus on healing elsewhere. Most imprportant is Vitamin D!! You would think I work for this vitamin based on how I promote it to people but it’s amazing. After studying it for an extended period of time I learned so much about it’s interaction with the immune system. In order for your body to launch a full attack on a pathogen, your immune cells need to link up with a molecule of vitamin D- the more there is available, the more defense cells can attack the sickness!
Sorry for going nerd on you blog here haha. I’m over at SoFitandSoGreen.blogspot.com with more health tips!
