Happy Friday! I know the post is a little late today, but Kevin and I were out last night, meaning no time to prep it up and edit/upload my pictures. More deets on last night will come tomorrow. For now, I want to review a few new-to-me things.
First up – I finally own a running skirt, and I am soooooo happy with my purchase. It’s the Abby Run Skort by Asics. I had a successful three-mile Thursday in it, and I’m pleased. The shorts rode up about half an inch or an inch, but then it stayed put. Works for me!
I’ve only run in my new shoes once so far, but I really liked them. Gotta’ love that cushy new feel of new kicks. I can’t say that I love the color, but that’s no biggie. Dad taught me years ago that you can’t by running shoes for looks.
Dad looked out for me when I first started running. He bought me good shoes (not the cute ones I wanted). Then once those got old, he did a ton of research and analyzed where they had worn the most so that he could make a recommendation for my next pair. (Sadly, those weren’t cute either.) I later had to do PT for runner’s knee, and the therapist recommended the exact shoe my dad had picked out for me. Thanks pops!
Lastly – I’m enjoying my protein oats now before I get to work. They’re raspberry vanilla. Whenever I eat raspberries I also think of my dad for no other reason than he likes them.
Now you’re practically best friends with the guy, right?
- Got weekend plans?

Yeah… I was a little sad the first time I was fitted for shoes and they gave me some seriously ugly ones. Felt like I was walking on air, but I wanted something fun… like pink. lol. Oh well – they helped me kick butt for a few races… worth it.
Happy weekend!

But… but… I kind of like the green(yellow?)! It’s fun and happy! In any case, I think shoes nowadays are looking a lot better than they did way back when. I remember buying shoes in my early teens and everything was like… white, black, or silver. I’m glad someone finally decided to add a little bit more fun into workout gear.

Love the skirt, and love that it’s named the Abby!
I also like to choose shoes based on appearance, which doesn’t often work out too well!

The last time I needed new shoes the model I wanted was the ugly color every. I luck out every other year:)
I can’t find a running skirt that looks good on me, but I definitely love the Asics one.
Weekend – I wish I could say resting but football, friends, etc. Living it up!

I always, always have the issue of cute shoes vs. functional. I have learned the hard way that the functional shoes should win out! I’m running a 5K this weekend with some friends – super excited! Enjoy yours!

I totally need to get fitted for new shoes now that I’m running so much. I used to not need to buy a new pair but once a year, since most of my exercise was elliptical-based and not too stressful on the shoes, but I can TOTALLY feel that I’ve already worn my shoes down…

For the first time last year, I bought one pair of run/walk only shoes and one pair of cross trainers. Loved it!

You look adorable! I’ve never owned a running skirt. Not sure if I’d like it!

I don’t do the running skirt thing

Ha! I suppose not. I bet you don’t do the tennis skirt thing either when on the court.

Glad you like your running skirt! I love mine. They’re so comfortable. And, yes, I had to learn the importance of function over fashion, too. But it’s sooooo worth it.
