Packages of Fun

Who says fun doesn’t come in packages, boxes, and bags?  Oh wait – that’s Christmas.  Christmas certainly does not come in packages, but fun definitely can!

When I woke up yesterday, my legs felt like lead.  They were heavy, and I was tired.  The gym wasnothappening.  Instead I got up, read a few blogs, drank coffee, and eventually got to work.  Cleo didn’t help my motivation.


I later heard a knock on the door.  My Running Warehouse shipment arrived  Squeeeee!  How could I not get excited about a new Asics running skort and Asiccs kicks?  For you shoe lovers out there, I ordered these babies for just $53 with free shipping.  I think they’re the 2010 model of the GT 2160.


Perhaps it was the package, or perhaps it was the restful morning, but my motivation returned.  As soon as I got out of work, I busted out Katy’s “99 Hardcore Workout.”  My arms were jello the rest of the night.  She ends her workout with an 11-minute run, but I opted for a walk instead.


When I got the mail after my walk, I found more goodies.  Muscle & Fitness recently asked me to be an ambassador for their online store.  I’m not sure if that’s kosher with my ad network, but I at least agreed to review some of the products for a few months.  (Twist my arm, right?)


This little sample was perfect for my needs yesterday.  I just finished a tough workout, but I didn’t want a full protein shake since I was about to cook up some high-protein veg chili in about half an hour.  Insert “Aminolast: recovery & endurance BCAA superfuel” here!  For only 10 calories, one serving contains 2 g protein, 10 g amino acids, and some electrolytes.

I honestly thought it even tasted good – kind of like strawberry lemonade.  I usually try to go for more natural foods and supplements, but this really fit the bill for my needs yesterday.

  1. Love that first picture of Cleo. Cats always look ridiculously relaxed when they sleep – I swear I could just stare at one and probably drift off 🙂 As for supplements, they kind of freak me out to be honest. My body tends to not really appreciate me putting strange things into it, so I tend to steer clear.

  2. Supplements really aren’t my thing. I drink muscle milk on occasion because I am totally stocked up from them being a race sponsor, but I don’t seek them out…

  8. I love getting goodies in the mail. I had a mini panic attack when there was talk of stopping mail delivery on Saturday’s a few months ago. One less day of getting stuff?? NO!!!

  10. I don’t do a ton outside of vitamins, but I swear by BCAAs and CLAs. I’ve noticed a big difference since adding those.

  11. The only “supplement” I take is protein powder and a multi vitamin. #lame

    I guess I just dont really need anything else. Real food works for me.

  13. Yipee! I LOVE getting packages in the mail…even if most of them are ones I pay for! Lol Love the new kicks! I’m an Asics girl through and through…may have to look into those!

    I try to keep some balance between my supplements and whole foods. I try not to have more than one or two servings of protein from a “supplement” (powder, bar) a day. I was looking for a good amino supplement a couple of months ago. Wish I had seen this Aminoblast…especially if it really tastes like strawberry lemonade! I’ll have to keep it in mind whenever I EVENTUALLY choke down the stuff I got! Lol

  15. I have been using fitmixer aminos, but haven’t tried any other types. Strawberry lemonade sure sounds good though…might have to look into that. 🙂
