Fall finally feels upon us… or at least me. It’s finally supposed to get chilly tonight. Woohoo! Though I’m happy for sweaters and boots, I’m glad this weekend stayed relatively warm. I was busy busy busy!
I spent most of the day Friday sanding and painting furniture, which was exhausting. Oh, did I mention I had an extremely hilly 3.5-mile run before even starting on the furniture? You better believe I was happy for this crock pot meal. And the beer. Okay, I was especially happy for the beer.
Meal: Clean Eating’s tamale pie, Beer: Warsteiner Oktoberfest
I was just as busy Saturday at my Habitat for Humanity build. Lunch was graciously provided, but turkey/ham sandwiches don’t do much for a girl with a veg pledge. Lucky for me there were leftover whole wheat bagels from breakfast.
I definitely burned those carbs!
When I finished my build and Kevin returned from class (all-day grad school session), we headed out to meet friends for a few drinks. To my dismay, I participated in zero costume festivities. I don’t think I would have been able to keep my eyes open too long anyway.
Sunday was a bit more relaxed. I put the finishing touches on the furniture, headed to church, and baked some bread. Thank goodness for rest days!
The bread tasted fan-friggin-tastic. I followed Katie’s recipe, but I used 1/3 cup of maple syrup instead of 1/2 cup, and I used about 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips. (Oh gosh… those gooey, melty, chips… I may have had a little tooooo much of them yesterday.)
That’s my weekend in a blog post nutshell.
- Did you try any new recipes over the weekend?
- Ever been too exhausted to party? *Side note: getting old ain’t easy. ha

I didn’t try new recipes- but recycled old. We had a few people crash at our place on Saturday, so the roomie and I threw down in the kitchen Sunday with some biscuits and gravy! Holla’!
Glad it was a great weekend!

Haha getting old definitely isn’t easy. I have no idea how I used to go out every night even if I had work or school the next day, but now when the weekend comes, all I really want to do is rest or do something low key with family or friends. I like to think that I just got it all out of my system
And this weekend I made a cookie recipe with leftover shredded wheat crumbs. Strange but good.

Getting tired happens to the best of us. Sometimes I just like to be at home.. on the couch with a glass of wine.. or some beer watching a movie..
October 30, 2012 at 8:44 am
I hope I partake in some of that this weekend!

Nice weekend- no wonder you’re exhausted!
I am totally old before my time and was asleep on the couch before 9pm on Friday!

I am SO going to give that bread a try – mmmmm
And you worked your butt off this weekend! Way to go:) Sounds like that hearty meal is exactly what you needed Friday.
Now off to bookmark the banana bread.

Make it! Kevin (who claims to not eat sweets) even asked if I’d make some more of it soon.

Fun weekend!
I did try a new recipe this weekend! I’ll be posting about it this week. Have a good one!

Oh that bread looks fantastic! I can see why you may have a had few too many pieces. Who cares though as long as you enjoyed it. Have a great start to the new week!

I’ll bet you were tired after all of that manual labor! The tamale pie sounds really good – and since I’ve been becoming better friends with my slow cooker, I’ll probably have to try that recipe out.

It wasn’t as “dump it in and forget it” as I’d like, but I still totally recommend it.

Ugh, getting old sucks. I’ve found myself going to bed early even on weekends!

That bread looks phenomenal! I didn’t participate in any Halloween shenanigans over the weekend, either, but it was worth it because I had a little blendfriend reunion instead.
