Happy Hump Day! I have a few things to be excited about on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, so I’m pretty happy we’re on the down-hill side of the week. As regular readers know, hump day also = what I ate Wednesday (WIAW). Be sure to check out the WIAW links at Peas and Crayons.

For snack, I ate 15 almonds. Y’all can live without a picture of that, right?
It was friggin’ cold yesterday, so I was extremely happy to have Chelsey’s loaded cabbage soup for lunch. I paired it with two slices of Low Sodium Ezekiel Bread. (That’s my first Ezekiel Bread purchase, but it won’t be the last.)
I had a Quest protein bar for my second snack. Major yum! I’ll share more on these babies at a later date.
I had Bible study again last night, but this time we all had dinner together. Some girls were bringing lettuce, others salad toppings, others appetizers, and a couple desserts. It sounds like a great idea, but not eating until 8:15ish did NOT agree with my belly. Here was my at-home appetizer to hold me over until dinner. (reduced sodium Triscuits and reduced fat smoked gouda)
So as to not creep out all the girls at dinner, I did not snap photos of the food. I can tell you it was quite tasty though. It was cute too; just check out my Bible study leader’s decor!
- Do social plans get in the way of your diet or your eating schedule?
- Do you avoid situations because of that, or do you go with the flow?

I love the idea of pre-dinner appetizers, and smoked gouda is a definite favorite of mine! I tend to just go to the social events, even if it sabotages my diet plans. I’m trying to work on sticking to my plan, even if it’s not what others expect me to eat. I’m eating to make myself happy – not others
Food choices is an area in my life where I’m allowed to be selfish.
happy wiaw!

Love simple lunches like yours! Looks fantastic!

I love soup like that! I make a version of it in my crock pot!

I did the same thing last night- had a small sandwich before book club because I wasn’t sure what was being served.
Good thing- all we really had were pretzels, chex mix, and chocolate/cookies. All good things I ate, but I would have been STARVING otherwise…

Love the picture where your cat photo-bombed your meals!
Social plans always get in the way of my diet, but I have learned to just go with the flow. I’ll survive if I can’t eat a meal with everyone else. Sure, I’ll be hungry. But I can always get food later. It’s more important to just be with people and socialize.

I’ve been on a major oatmeal kick, think it’s the cooler temps.
Sadly, sometimes I will decline an evening invite if I didn’t have a chance to workout that morning. It’s hard to recognize that you shouldn’t be doing it, but I am so stubborn in my routine.
House looks super cute!

I used to seriously panic if my eating schedule was interrupted by a social event, but now I kind of see eating schedules as getting in the way of going out and having a good time, so I’ve learned to adapt by and go with the flow. Food is good, but people are better

I go with the flow when social plans creep into my eating schedule, but I definitely partake in a snack

If we are eating late I always have to have a snack before we go .. Usually I try and make it a piece of fruit
October 11, 2012 at 8:54 am
Ah, yes… fruit would have been a good choice.

If someone says we are doing dinner at 9p, I absolutely eat a full on pre-dinner at 6p. There is no way my body can wait that late.
Orrrr, I just drink a lot of wine. Ha!

Wine = the answer to everythinggggg! haha

It’s so hard when social events get in the way – I try to snack smartly, but it’s hard to find the balance!
October 11, 2012 at 8:53 am
I found balance… by having one cookie in both hands. Whoops!

Those quest bars are my favorite! They’re so filling and I love the ingredient list! Glad you are enjoying them!
October 11, 2012 at 8:53 am
They’re relatively new to me, but a friend recently introduced me – now I’m hooked!

Last night was French night at Book Club, and I ended up just bringing my own meal since I’m doing the strict vegan thing this month. I also made sure to bring apples and pears and things i COULD eat. My friends are so used to me bringing my own food, it never usually raises and eyebrow.
I want that soup. I always forget how much I love cabbage in soup until I see someone else eating it…or I got home to PA to visit my dad and my stepmom has made some.

Awwww, I should have thought of that. They don’t call you Miss Smart for nothing!
October 10, 2012 at 5:40 pm
I’ve realized that no “schedule” with food is worth missing social events/hanging with friends.
I need to find those Quest Bars asap since they sound SO good
October 11, 2012 at 8:52 am
They’re fairly new to me, but I recommend them!

Love Ezekial! You have to try the sprouted tortillas too!
One of the hardest things about this competition is the food. I struggle to eat 7x a day and have found myself getting annoyed or trying to back out of plans if it’s going to interfere… which is also annoying. 24 more days!

Go with the flow

Breakfast looks delish! Thanks for sharing

Thank goodness for good breakfasts. That’s what gets me up in the morning! haha
