I am not hitting the gym this morning. In fact, I’m not hitting the gym this evening either. I need a rest day from my weekend. Oh, and there’s the fact that I can barely move my stiff neck.
On Friday, I went out to eat while picking up my race packet. Yup – there’s a pizza place near the running store; it was destiny. I had a local beer, Mecktoberfest, with my roast veggie pizza.
I only had one beer, and I only ate half my pizza. This was will power at work! I was soooooo proud of myself. ”Leftover pizza” is usually unheard of around me.
On Saturday, I ran my 5k. Woop woop! My buddy ran it with me, but we didn’t run it side-by-side. I know I said this was a “fun run” and that pace didn’t matter, but I wore my Garmin anyway.
I did better than expected but didn’t kill it. They don’t have chip times posted yet, but my Garmin said I averaged 8:13 per mile. I’m happy with that, especially considering it took a mile for the crowd to get outta’ my way thin out a bit.
After the race, I enjoyed a little leftover chicken, pizza, and coffee before getting to work. I had a date with my new sander. It was lunch time when I finally finished sanding one bookcase. Sadly, I still had one more to go!
Needless to say, after a full day of sanding, I was tuckered out. I had a buddy coming over to watch the Clemson game with me that night, so I showered, took a nap, downed a shot of espresso, and was ready to watch the game (with a sleepy kitty and bowl of cookie dough dip, of course).
The next morning, I was at it again. I primed and painted both bookcases. Oh, and I also went to bed at 8:30 p.m. I still have two small dressers to do on future weekends, so I’ll be sure to show before and after pics later. I will say that refinishing furniture’s no joke!
- Did you race this weekend? If so, tell me about it?
- Have you started or finished any ambitious projects lately?

Rest days are important! Today was a chill one for sure because I am also still exhausted from everything that went down in the last 48 hours… whew.
And the first mile of any race is just crappy. Always.

I don’t blame you for taking a day off today – any kind of house renos always wipe me out completely. I haven’t had to work on any huge projects, but even things like prepping and painting a room can be a big pain in the butt. Hope you feel better soon!

Ah, you’re totally disney world tired!! Sounds like you did to kill it for the race – that’s an awesome pace. And your fuel looks delicious, and smart.
Get some rest this week and bask in your race glory!

I would say this nursery is pretty ambitious

I’m just itching for a bookcase to sand. Or any set of shelves, keeping my eyes peeled at garage sales and Craigslist!!
Same boat as the “leftover pizza” which is why it’s always a good practice to enjoy it with my beau. Since he practically races himself to eat the slices as fast as humanly possible, I just need to chew slowly. Voila, maybe not self-control but partner-control!

That pizza looks incredible, good work on saving some for leftovers.

Good job on the race! That is an amazing time. I’ve been running FAR, but I am not FAST. I am a solitary runner, so I wonder if I’d even want to have a ‘race buddy.’ They would definitely have to know I wouldn’t want to run WITH them.
