Thirsty Thursday

by Tiff

I’ve been training for the new job in the mornings, which means I’ve been spending a few afternoons testing my new skills at home.  Hopefully I’ll be full-time at home soon so that I can free up two hours a day by ditching my commute.

***Dear Dad, I don’t know how you commuted for more than two hours each day for all those years we lived in GA.  Thanks for that.  I would have gone bonkers!

So far, I can say that working from home doesn’t make the day go by faster.  However, there are some perks, such as working on my posture and balance.

And spending more time with my girls.  Leia in particular is extra interested in everything I’m doing.  (Really, don’t mind her sleepy eyes.  I promise she didn’t pass out on the keyboard.)

Yup, it’s kind of like this but with more work and less leisure.

I don’t crack any beers before Kevin gets home from work, so this thirsty Thursday post is highlighting a couple brews I tried last weekend. First up is Lagunitas Wilco Tango Foxtrot (WTF) Ale.  The brewery creatively labeled it as “A Malty, Robust Jobless Recovery Ale.”

Robust is right.  This is a full-bodied American ale bursting with flavor.  There’s hop, malt, and a little bitter of awesome.  Due to the slightly high alcohol content (7.8ABV), I probably wouldn’t order this in a bar or restaurant.  However, it was perfect to share with the hubby at home last Friday night.

It was a perfect appetizer for the brats we had for dinner, so I’d say this one’s a win.  Of course, this doesn’t surprise me.  I respect most everything that comes out of Lagunitas, and I’d already read Kelli’s rave review.

  1. I would LOVE to be able to get a job where I worked from home all the time. The time spent commuting (I live in Washington DC) is absolutely awful.

Just seeing your beer makes me want one (and it’s only 7:22AM lol). Only one more day until the weekend!

  2. Lagunitas is hands down my new favorite brew. It started out as a summer affair, but I am not letting go…

And yeah- work from home is awesome. We’re allowed to do it on occasion here and I’m SUPER excited about it!

  3. Yes, the rule of working from home is take it easy before the 5 o’clock beer popping window, lol. Easy to get relaxed, lol.

Lagunitas has so many awesome beers!

  4. That sounds like a yummy beer! I’ll have to get my hands on that one.

I work from home. It rocks in so many ways, including the fact that today I don’t have to rearrange a schedule to be home for the plumber – I’m already here. ;o)

  5. I always look forward to days where I can work from home. I hear a lot of people complain that it’s harder to stay focused on work when you’re at home, but I actually find being away from the busy office atmosphere helps me focus a lot better. And I totally replace my chair with a stability ball as well :D

  6. I am so jelly that you get to work from home!

  7. Splitting a 22 is definitely the way to go! Thanks for the mention. :)

I am so jealous you’re going to start working from home.

  8. Lagunitas was one of the first breweries I ever visited, it was pretty soon after I finally starting appreciating beer (I didn’t like it until a few years ago). Great stuff coming out of there, not sure I’ve ever had a bad beer from them!

  9. Oooo I’ve heard great things about this one – I’m a fan of their Wild Sumpin’ Ale too – great write up! I’ll be working from home tomorrow – it’s funny how those little perks (despite the fact that I AM actually working, even though people think I’m not) really make the day better (even if it doesn’t go by any faster!)

  10. I second all the rave reviews for Lagunitas! I’ve tried a lot of beers from them and am never disappointed. I love the name on this one – creative!

  11. I would kill to live at home. I have a 45 min commute each way :(
