Jen’s WIAW theme for this week is “Summer Staples” My fitness Monday was a quick run, and my fitness yesterday was swimming laps. Yes, the Olympics totally had something to do with that. I guess pool time is kind of a summer staple, eh?

The food involves summer staples too (blackberries, kale, etc.), so let’s move onto the food.
Pre-swim: Wasa Rye Light cracker
Breakfast: sandwich thin with natural pb and blackberries
Snack: MRM natural vanilla protein in water and McCafe black coffee (best drip coffee!)
Lunch: sweet potato & broccoli topped with nutritional yeast (tater n’ broc cooked in microwave at work)
Snack: first snack came too early… stress is bad, but trail mix is gooooooood
Snack: since first snack came too early, I had one of these babies too before leaving work
Dinner: rice, kale, ginger, soy sauce, and shrimp
First one to finish your veggies wins!
Dessert: totally unnecessary, but super tasty
Action Shot
Despite a stressful day at work, I managed to maintain high energy levels all day. I think the morning protein shake (ahem… and coffee), healthy fat from the trail mix, and the slow-burn carbs of the sweet potato all contributed to this. The beer? Maybe not.
- What’s your favorite spot for coffee?
- What’s your favorite protein powder?

Dessert is probably always unneccessary. But soooo worth it. No matter what form it comes in.
My favorite spot for coffee is my kitchen. My friend bought me an amazing bag of gourmet for my bday and it’s almost gone. Boooo…

I have yet to every successfully cook a sweet potato in the microwave. Any secrets?
That beer certainly helped. You need those carbs for recovery!

I don’t like coffee (although I love the smell) but I like Starbucks for their chai tea, or chai tea latte- yum.

I like chai tea and I like lattes, but I have yet to try a chai tea latte. I know… #fail. Haha

Love your cat going for the beer! A pet after my own heart

My bedroom is my favorite “coffee” spot. We moved our espresso machine to the bedroom last year and it’s the best location – you can have it without walking downstairs, fresh brewed, and delicious!

I love your snacks. And honestly, McDonalds does do some pretty good drip coffee. Happy WIAW.

I love Dunkin Donuts for coffee! McDonald’s isn’t bad either.

Coffee is good for us! [Right? Yes? At least according to today's 'study that will be contradicted by next week'?]
I nearly spit out my coffee (speaking of) at the line ‘stress is bad, but trail mix is good.’ If we are going to stress eat, let’s stress eat healthy food!

Although I should say that stress eating almost an entire pineapple is NOT a good idea.
Not that I can tell you from personal experience or anything…

Totally agree! McCafe black drip coffee is the best! Thank goodness it is waaay cheaper than Starbucks and on my way to work!
