What I Didn’t Eat Thursday

by Tiff

I posted my Tuesday meals on my WIAW post yesterday, and I planned to eat basically the same thing all week.  Hmmm… that didn’t work out so well.

First hiccup in the plan: un-satisfying lunch

I know better.  That’s one of my top diet rules: don’t make a plan with food you don’t like.  Of course, I didn’t realize I wasn’t going to like the dressing before I bought it, but nevertheless – this is what happened instead.

thursday 002

It’s a wheat baba ganoush pita from Pita Pit with spinach, cucumber, a little onion, and a little black olive.  Yum!

Second hiccup in the plan: calorie miscounting

Tracking calories works best when you enter the right food into your calorie-counter app.  I accidentally entered a Larabar mini instead of a regular Larabar.  By the time I realized my mistake, I had already gone 110 over my limit.  Oh well – no biggie!

thursday 004

I still thoroughly enjoyed my leftover channa masala without an ounce of regret.  It tasted extra-good since I enjoyed it after my post-work trip to the gym.  (20 minutes elliptical followed by 1-hour body pump class)

thursday 003

My arms were burning in class!  I’m surprised I could hold up the camera for this sweaty photo once I got home.

  • Ever have diet mishaps (whether you’re “dieting” or not)?

  1. That’s actually why I don’t regularly diet/count calories. The mishaps start to happen… then they start happening on purpose… it’s a vicious cycle!

  2. Yeah, I can’t imagine counting calories! I feel like it would become so excessive! I fully believe our bodies know how to regulate our intake….some days were more hungry, some days less. And cravings come when our bodies are being deprived of something! But hey, if it works for you! :)

    • Oh if we were all so in-tune, America wouldn’t have an obesity problem. Haha. :) Glad your system is so intuitive!

  3. Yes! Especially with travel or work conferences. I’ll be like ok I’m having the veggie wrap for lunch to ensure I actually see a vegetable..it shows up as a tortilla with lettuce and the result is usually a few hours later I’m snacking on something

  4. omg I LOVE pita pit… We don’t have one around here :( The closest one is 2 hours away.. We used to go there when we were in college.. mmmmm so good.

  5. Yes! Especially when we are out of groceries, but don’t have time to go for a couple days!

  6. 110 calories is no biggie. I don’t count calories, so I never really have mishaps where I go over a certain caloric limit. There are obviously plenty of days where I am well aware I ate more than I need. Oh well. All about balance!

  7. Oh calorie counting…so helpful, and yet, somewhat NOT on occasion. [Especially when you are trying to fgure out just how many times your spoon went into the nut butter jar...]

Thank you for reminding me that Pita Pit is amazing.

And that they deliver ’round here.

  8. I often have mishaps! The worst is when I pack a delicious and healthy lunch and leave it at home. Last time I got subway which isn’t all that bad but was super bummed that I didn’t get to enjoy my other meal.
Calorie counting is truly so helpful and I really should keep an eye on my foods every so often.

  9. I screw up my meals sometimes, even with the spreadsheet I keep. Like with the Tiramisu Parfait I posted WIAW/today. I ate if for breakfast, forgetting I should have added the 1T of flax I’m supposed to have every morning. Doh.

  10. Don’t sweat 100 calories! Seriously.

And Pita Pit is the bomb :)

  11. I hate counting calories…I always screw up! :)

    Love the Pita Pit!
