Yesterday was my first day of the LiveFit program I mentioned. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the program, let me give you a brief synopsis of Phase 1 (3 phases total, 12 weeks).
- No cardio for the first 2 weeks (great for my recovering hips)
- 3 sets of 12 reps of each exercise for the first 2 weeks
- Limit fruit to 2 times per day, 1 of which is berries in the morning
- Very protein-focused (difficult but very doable for my vegetarian challenge)
- Each workout supposedly takes about an hour to complete
- Different but similar routines throughout the program
Day 1 was filled with ups and downs. I always prefer to hear bad news first, so let’s start with the downs. I arrived at the gym at 5:30 a.m. Although it is scheduled to open at 5, the doors were still locked. Bummer! I drove back home and had just enough time to complete the workout at home with my 8-lb dumbbells and resistance bands.

As for the ups, I tried and enjoyed my new protein. I was having a hard time finishing off the hemp protein I bought a while back, so I’ll just save that for hippie smoothies. I purchased MRM 100% natural vanilla whey for my muscle-building needs. I wanted a vegan protein, but let’s just say the price was very right for this one.

Not only did the protein taste okay, it also kept me (somewhat) full. Due to my mid-morning shake, I wasn’t famished for my afternoon snack. (Who is this girl, and what have you done with Miss Snacks-a-lot?) Don’t worry, I still ate afternoon snack, but snack time was delayed an hour.
In short, day 1 went well, and I look forward to the rest of training… all 12 weeks of ‘em.
- Got a favorite brand or type of protein?

I have seen quite a few people doing this, and it looks like people have had great results. I am excited to hear about your experience. I may be interested in following this plan when I return to the States. Good luck!

Can I just say, I’d have thrown a FIT if the gym wasn’t open when it should be? Every once in a while, they’d change the codes on the gym doors at my old apartment complex before emailing the residents about it and I’d get SO mad. Because you take all that time and effort to go get a good workout in… Meh!

I’d be very annoyed at my gym! lol
I have been dying to start the livefit trainer.. I think I’m going to start next week

Wow that would have totally bummed me out having the gym be closed! Good for you for going home and getting your workout on anyway.

I’m a huge fan of Tera’s Whey Protein – it’s organic and comes in Vanilla, Chocolate, and Blueberry. I put the vanilla on everything (cereal, yogurt, smoothies, etc.) Love.

I started the LiveFit program and then abandoned it after only 2 weeks! haha I just don’t do well with super structured programs. However, I still do some of the Phase 1 workouts for strength days – they’re always a good workout.

It seems like so many people are doing the LiveFit program right now! I hope you enjoy it! I generally just buy the whole foods, 365 brand protein powder because it’s healthy and cheaper!

I have been loving the Sun Warrior Vegan protein, but also love Vega. Either are great, I just look for the better deal.

Sunwarrior was my second choice. I may have to try it next time; that one has such good reviews.

I have seen a lot of talk about this program, and heard a lot of good things! Can’t wait to hear how it goes for ya! I think I may want to give it a shot!
I really like sun warrior protein as well! I would recommend that to anyone!

I know my Vega was very pricey. But I also like Pure Protein in Vanilla. I got it at Walgreens for around $23. Best of hard work and luck on your program. No cardio for 2 weeks? I’d go bonkers.

Whey to go!
And for the gym not being opened, I would have asked for money off my monthly fee or something. Insane! My motto is, I’m up so you should be too!!

Good idea!
