It’s Friiyyyyday, It’s Friiyyyyday

Thank goodness it’s Friday! Speaking of Friday, did you know that Rebecca Black’s Friday video is the #1 most viewed YouTube video of 2011? SOURCE Crazy. Let’s give her a few more undeserved views, shall we?

I dare you to watch it. Double-dog dare you.

I’m sad that 2011 is coming to a close. It’s been a great year. I’m not sure if any year will top this one, but I’m willing to give it a shot. Bring it on 2012!

I haven’t made any “resolutions” for the year. I have a few goals and aspirations, but there’s nothing earth-shattering here. Resolutions and I don’t get along so well.

Some Goals:

1. Eat less meat and more organic dairy/eggs. Eat more veggies. I went vegetarian in February last year. It wasn’t hard, except for that crazy burger craving I got at the end of the month. I may go-veg again for a moth or two in 2012.

2. Run a half marathon. My knees and feet may or may not agree with this one. I would like to run 13 miles by 2013… or maybe the end of 2013.

3. Remove excess holiday weight quickly, and maintain my weight all year long. I don’t think this will be easy, but it certainly won’t be too challenging. Wish me luck!

Yeah… I guess that’s about it for goals. If you’d like to set some yourself, here are some tips.

  • Create a timeline. Giving yourself an entire year is fine, but smaller checkpoints will help significantly.
  • Make it challenging but attainable. No full marathon plans here!
  • Track your success. I plan to use a scale, but I also have a body fat caliper and my jeans for reference.
  • Make sure your goals are measurable. My #2 goal is pretty darn measurable, though #1 is quite vague.
  • Reward yourself for your success. If you want to lose weight, I recommend rewarding yourself with a pedicure, not a cheesecake.

Do you make goals or resolutions? If so, what’s one you’re working to accomplish?

A half marathon is on my list this year too! I already signed up for a 5K and a 10K to help set small goals along the way. First one is next Saturday.

Have a Happy New Year! I have a few beers in my fridge that I’m looking forward to drinking on New Year’s Eve – or tonight.

My biggest goal is to run my 1/2 marathon in March 🙂 After that, just have a great year. I have my 101 list..I gotta get moving on those goals!

  7. Great goals! I’m not a person that sets resolutions or goals….they just always stress me out and then I forget about them haha.

  8. i think you can definitely accomplish those goals! You’re gonna rock 2012!!!

  9. Great goals! I love any excuse to create a new goal (New Years, birthday, lent, whatever!) Happy New Year 🙂

  10. Love your goals! I definitely want to try and eat more organic when my wallet wants to allow it 🙂 That video – oh boy. It’s pretty funny, but it gets stuck in my head ALL DAY. I refuse to watch it again. Funny thing is, when I was typing up my post this morning, that song popped in my head;D

  11. Pedicures are my #1 reward 🙂 I use them for everything. Empty the dishwasher? I deserve a pedicure…it’s getting a little out of hand!

  12. Who is Rebecca Black lol?
One of my goals is to eat more organic too!
Have a fabulous weekend and Happy New Year =)

  13. I love that you only have a handful of goals– very practical and attainable 🙂

I don’t usually make any for myself, but I feel like this year might be a little bit different. It might do me some good to be focused on something as 2012 arrives.

  14. I set a few.goals but not much more that I always make 😉 I just want to stay active and healthy and I also want to start playing my piano again!

  15. Half marathon is on mine! It will be in March, but I’ve started training, so it will be do-able.

I also want to eat clean (less meat, more veg, like you) and get back to my comfortable weight … and stay there.

2011 was a rough one for me, so I’m banking on 2012 to take it away! haha.

I’m not a big resolution person myself – I tend to just live and let live and just be happy for all the blessings in my life as they come! 🙂

  17. Sounds like some great goals! I need to eat more vegetables as well!

  18. I like the thought of goals more than resolutions, and yours sound awesome! I’ve been trying to reduce the amount of meat and increase veggies in my life too and the holidays definitely led me off track!
