Umm… where did the weekend go? There must be some left hiding somewhere. Let me know if you see it. In case you missed my weekend post, check it out for my quick Thanksgiving workout.
This weekend was all about food (and drink). Saturday was all about eating, and Sunday was all about cooking.
Saturday began with festive drink purchases.
Saturday ended with lots of snacks, football, and this entire pizza. I know – I shouldn’t have, but I did. It was glorious. Kevin had cheese fondue instead of helping me with this bad boy. Clearly I didn’t need the help!
Sunday was exhausting. I made my first Thanksgiving dish of the year. I knocked my own socks off!
First I caramelized the sugar. I didn’t even know that was possible. It turned out great. Adapted from this Cranberry Relish Recipe.
After lots of chores, I created another awesome Oh She Glows recipe. See Angela’s site for the recipe and prettier pictures.
I managed to squeeze in a run Sunday. I’m a wee bit slower now that I’ve been logging so many miles on the treadmill, but I was still quite proud of this run. I did 3 miles in 25:13, and the splits were 8:20, 8:40, and 8:13.
- What was the best thing you did this weekend?
- Did you cook anything good? If it has a link, link up in the comments!

Mm, everything looks delicious.
The best thing I did this weekend was probably to finally buy “Born to Run”. It’s just unbelievably inspiring and reminded me of why I love to run, and I already can’t wait to start minimalist running, and run to allow myself to be free (as cheesy as it sounds) rather than to punish my body.

Enjoy it! I’ve heard that’s a good one.

I didn’t do a whole lot of cooking this weekend which is unusual I think because we have such a busy week coming up and will not be home to enjoy it. Love the look of that cranberry relish.

I say that’s a pretty good pace for just getting out and running. I feel like I’ve gotten SO slow after running in the heat this summer then running longer distances.
November 21, 2011 at 5:05 pm
Longer distances definitely do that. So frustrating!

I’m bummed the weekend is over, but at least it’s a short week! The best thing I did this past weekend was catch up with old friends and watch the Ravens win yet another game! Wahoo!

Oh man this weekend was crazy.. So much food and drink… too much I think. I need another weekend to recover.. Why does that always happen?

You just inspired me to start cooking for Thanksgiving =)
So much fun… I’ve never caramelized sugar either… have to try it!

I made a delicious chicken stew this weekend in my crock-pot. It was so simple and made the house smell so good. I love this time of year, there are so many yummy recipes to make!

The whole weekend was great! Lots of sushi, hiking, hanging out with my love and pup! I love when I have no plans and just get to relax.
At least it’s a short week…
Your cranberry relish looks good. So does that Stone IPA.

I baked cookies Saturday and made chicken pot pie Fri, but that was the extent of my cooking this past weekend. We mostly relaxed, ran errands, and looked at a couple houses.

Cranberry relish?! yay!

That rice pilaf dish sounds amazing! This weekend I ran a low-key local 5K which was fun and then went to a wne festival. I’m not much of a wine person, but it was a good time! Then I spent a bit of time staring at the TV and the craziness that unfolded in college football this week! I also made a cranberry relish yesterday, which I will post the recipe for tomorrow…and an herb-roasted root vegetables medley as well: http://dinedashdeadlift.com/2011/11/21/what-to-bring-to-thanksgiving-part-ii-roasted-root-vegetables/

Yeah, the pilaf was pretty friggin good. I wish my photos did it justice!

That pizza looks amazing. I love pizza. And beer. This is why my pants don’t fit.
Nicely done on your 3-miler! Those are pretty impressive splits! I am sooo slow these days. I made some yummy soup this weekend and went for a 4 mile run which felt good after being pent up inside all week.

Haha, I hear ya. I need one set of pants solely for football/holiday season.

Pizza and beer…can’t beat it
