WIA(& D)W

Helloooo!  It’s time for another What I Ate Wednesday (WIAW), and this one includes a couple of extra drinks.  I’m eating the same thing all week, at least for breakfast, lunch, and most snacks, but this is what was on the menu yesterday.

 

First breakfast was a rice cake (I know… but surprise), but second breakfast was a whole wheat English muffin with 1.5 TBS peeb and raspberries.  Jelly is good, but I prefer the no-sugar-added goodness of fruit.

Before lunch, I snacked on 7 almonds and this sweet deal.  McDonald’s has free coffee all week.  McD’s has my fav black coffee, so this is great news for me. (Sadly, they put creamer in it yesterday, so I only drank about a third before tossing it.)

Lunch was not delicious, but it was soooo filling!  It’s a wee bit of iceburg lettuce, napa cabbage, broccoli florets, and snow peas topped with a can of tuna and 2 TBS of TJ’s Goddess dressing (best dressing ever).  This would have tasted better with 4 TBS of dressing, but I try not to go overboard.

Snack this week is awesome.  I’d eat an apple and a hardboiled egg daily if I wasn’t scared I’d get sick of it.

I tried out a new recipe for dinner last night.  I made a beef tagine.  When I saw the recipe, I knew I just had to try it.  I’m obsessed with all things “tagine” at the moment.  It was good, but I wouldn’t say great.  I *might* make it again, though Kevin said he liked it.

I may have had a beer while cooking too.  Appetizer?  The spiced ale went well with the spices of the tagine.

  3. First time commenting. found you on WIAW! The beef tagine looks fab and i bet it was delicious with a p.spice beer! I heard that MCD’s is giving away free coffee! I have not gotten a red cup yet, yikes , time FLIES!

  8. Free coffee is always good! I had a coupon for free iced coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts every monday in October. Joy!

  11. I have yet to make my yearly trip to Starbucks for my peppermint mocha.. but I will soooooon… apparently they have a new “skinny” peppermint mocha?! I am so there…

    I could snack on Chobani and granola all day.. seriously..

    • I heard that too! I can’t wait to try one. I guess it’d be hypocritical to order a skinny pep mocha with whipped cream, wouldn’t it? :)

  12. I haven’t had any red cups yet but I will definitely have a starbucks in the future. i can see it now…

    In the fall/winter i love to snack on granny smith and pb. I also like bananas, walnuts, dates, and dried papaya.

  15. Um, what is tagine?? I’ve never heard of that haha. And I haven’t had a hardboiled egg in a really long time but now I kind of want one :)

  16. The tagine looks great, but I have no clue what ‘tagine’ is. I will Google it shorty!

    I could definitely could (and try to) eat hummus and carrots daily!

  17. I have one of those Starbucks cups sitting on my desk right now :) And I can and DO snack on at least one apple a day. Hard to get sick of that! Or tagines, yum–haven’t made one in forever, thanks for the reminder of a great and easy warm winter meal.

  18. I pretty much eat an egg sandwich every day for breakfast. I am always afraid I’m going to get sick of it, but I really never do.

I usually prefer to make my coffee at home (I’m a bit of a coffee snob) but I found myself at Starbucks last weekend with a couple of finds and broken down and bought an Americano with soy milk. I really don’t like Starbucks house brew…it always tastes burnt to me…but I forgot how much I adore the flavor of espresso! Mmm!

    Right now, I’m on a bit of a carrot and popcorn kick. I’ve had it for a snack every day for the past three days and I’m not sick of it yet!

  20. I go through phases with snacks and such. Like, I’ll get on a kick and eat the same snack or breakfast or whatever for an entire month and then move on to something else. Eventually, it all cycles back around, too. I’m a total creature of habit.

  21. Ok, I hear McD’s has amazing coffee and I’ve never had it!!! I should swing into get it….but tell them to hold the creamer!!! LOL!!

  23. Now that sounds like a perfect day of eats! I’ve started keeping boiled eggs on hand for quick snacks and meals around here. The tagine sounds delicious too!
